Do you think that Hilton is intentionally ‘devaluing’ gold elite status with the variety of offers recently? Maybe as an incentive to prod regular Hilton customers up the status food chain (as there are so many newly minted gold elites now)?

I was thinking exactly the same thing… seems like it is relatively easy to snag Hilton Gold without the normal stay requirement if you read a few blogs and participate in one of the offers.

After being a Diamond for many years, my company’s preferences changed which forced me to stay in more Marriott properties. As a result, I was downgraded to Hilton Gold but was able to achieve Marriott Gold. In my experience, I’ve been treated very well with Hilton Gold, nearly the same upgrades, etc. as with Diamond status. Obviously, I don’t get the additional 25% in points, but I think the benefits of Hilton Gold are much better than Marriott Gold (and ironically you need to stay 14 more nights with Marriott to get their Gold status).

Hilton HHonors has regularly offered Gold elite fast-tracks through a variety of sources as long as I have been a member since 1999.

After registering for this CWT Hilton fastrack promotion, do I have to book through a CWT agent or website to qualify? Or can I use the hilton honors website to book as well for this 4 stay qualification?

  • Ric Garrido February 6, 2012

@Al – You can book yourself through Hilton websites.
