Hotel Loyalty 2011-Q4 promotion Radisson Rewards

Rate Analysis for Radisson Big Night Giveaway 50,000 points stay

Radisson Big Night Giveaway is one of the best value hotel loyalty promotions of 2011.

The Club Carlson loyalty program offer is 50,000 Gold Points for one stay at a Radisson hotel in the U.S., Canada or Caribbean by December 30, 2011. The first 50,000 people to register for Radisson Big Night Giveaway qualify for 50,000 points. Promotion registration has been live since Thursday, November 10 and the first 50,000 registrants threshold apparently has not been reached yet since the sign-up page is supposed to change once the 50,000 points offer changes to 15,000 points for one Radisson stay.

Loyalty Traveler advice

Sign up for the Radisson Big Night Giveaway now and get in on one of the best hotel deals of the year.

50,000 points is good for one night at the highest Club Carlson hotel tier for category 6 properties around the world. Some of these hotels regularly run standard room rates over $300 per night. For example, Paris, France is one of the most expensive cities globally for an upper upscale hotel in the central city zones. There are five Radisson Blu hotels in central Paris and one hotel at each of the major airports Charles De Gaulle (CDG) and Orly (ORY).

Radisson Blu Ambassador Hotel, Paris Opera room rate is 470 EUR on June 6, 2012.

50,000 points from this promotion can be used to stay in downtown Paris at a hotel where the lowest room rate for June 6, 2012 is 470€ or US$622 per night. One hotel night in Paris isn’t going to make much of a vacation so if you have a spouse or friend to accompany you, then both persons can sign up and earn 50,000 points from the Radisson Big Night Giveaway and earn the points for two free nights. You can even have friends sign up and pay for their $100 room night at a U.S. Radisson hotel and have them gift you free nights with their point bonuses.

Radisson Blu Ambassador Paris Opera category 6 award night = 50,000 points.

Four nights at the Radisson Blu Paris Opera for $400 is a $2,000 discount on the prevailing rates and truly makes a luxury vacation stay. And your two friends get two free hotel nights in the U.S. at your expense.

I urged my extended family to sign up for this offer. And you don’t need to be in Paris to get good value from this offer.

Since this offer is 50,000 points and not a free night, Club Carlson members also have the option to use points for longer stays with more free nights at lower category hotels or conserve points with Club Carlson Cash & Points awards.

A Category 1 hotel at 9,000 points per night will provide five free hotel nights after your one Radisson hotel stay. Radisson Hotel Orlando, Florida is a Category 1 hotel and you can get a five night stay for 45,000 points.

Radisson Hotel Orlando 5-night award stay for 45,000 points April 11-16, 2012.

Radisson Hotel Orlando may not be an aspirational hotel destination, but the ability to stay five nights in Orlando for $50 as you tour the area is certainly a great hotel option for a family budget more interested in saving money for park admission fees for the family.

Radisson Hotel Orlando 5-night paid rate is $485.38 for April 11-16, 2012.

This rate comparison for Radisson Orlando shows you can stay five nights for 45,000 points + $50 in fees or five nights for $485.38. The ability to earn 50,000 Gold Points with the current Radisson Big Night Giveaway promotion shows the points are worth over $435 for this hotel stay. You can certainly earn the 50,000 points for far less spend.

Radisson Santa Maria, California was my $107.10 qualifying stay for 50,000 points.

The high value of the Radisson Big Night Giveaway is a combination of the ability to earn 50,000 points with a Radisson stay of just one night and the flexibility of redemption options from earning a large points bonus rather than a free night credit.

Sign up quickly. I am surprised to see the offer has not reached 50,000 registrants yet. This is a great hotel loyalty program opportunity for big hotel savings with Club Carlson.

Update: Sunday, November 27 – 9:00am California time.

Just as I posted this piece I see from several BoardingArea posts there is a new Club Carlson offer for 9,000 points for each award stay redeemed from December 1, 2011 to January 31, 2012 at any Carlson Hotel worldwide. The bonus may be earned up to five times for 45,000 bonus points. This is valid at all brands including Radisson, Park Plaza, Park Inn and Country Inn & Suites. I’ll write up a full post on this new offer in the next 24 hours.

All the more reason to sign up for the 50,000 bonus points Radisson stay offer ASAP. This offer won’t last much longer now before it changes to 15,000 bonus points.

Ric, thanks for the update. I completed my stay at Radisson SJC last Sunday, haven’t received the “Congratulations” email as some have, and wasn’t feeling confident I was within the 50k. Now knowing the promo landing page will change once the threshold has been reached is a great relief.

  • Marcela November 27, 2011

    Hi Ric,

Can friends/family “share” or “gift” their mile to me? You mentioned about paying for friends/family for a 1 $100 a night hotel stay, and have them gift the points to me. How does that work exactly?

    Thanks!

  • Phil November 27, 2011

This promo helped turn my head on to Carlson hotels. I am an SPG plat “by trade” with 40+ stays this year mostly at Four Points in/around NYC. I have now switched to a great little Country Inn in Long Island City which I can frequently get for < $100 a night, pretty amazing for being two subway stops from 5th Ave/Midtown.

Anyway I completed my matress run at the RTP/RDU Radisson (man that place looked a dump) on Friday so hoping the points post nice and quickly

What is even more interesting is that they have a 9k rebate promo going now so you can basically get that 5 night stay for absolutely FREE! You can't beat FREE for value! I was thinking about Orlando for Spring break and might combine 5 nights here with maybe 3-4 nights at the Waldorf for a bit more of an upmarket experience too. Flights courtesy of the Chase Southwest offer 🙂

As always thanks again Ric. I really like this blog

  • HikerT November 27, 2011

Nice analysis. Anyone know in general how strict they are requiring the billing name to match the club carlson # at check in? I’m sure I could get er, lots of friends and family to sign up for the promom but not necessarily check in.

  • m henner November 27, 2011

    Great

But the promotion page says at “Participating Properties”.

Where can we find a list of “Participating Properties”?

  • Ric Garrido November 27, 2011

@m henner – all Radisson hotels in US, Canada and Caribbean are participating. Must be a Radisson brand hotel. Park Inn, Park Plaza and Country Inn & Suites do not count.

  • Ric Garrido November 27, 2011

@Marcela – Friends and family can book an award night for you using the points they earned without any problem.

@HikerT – Most hotels ask for photo id at check-in. There are probably ways to get around this, but I am not an advocate of circumventing the rules to earn bonuses.
The promotion is generous and really should be available to people who will appreciate the hotel nights.

  • bluecat November 27, 2011

The hotel we stayed at definitely will check for ID and compare it to the credit card.

  • al613 November 27, 2011

I stayed in 2 Radisson hotels in WI this month. Both did not ask for ID at all.

  • Margaret Dodd November 27, 2011

Can you stay at a cheap Country inns before the end of December to qualify for the 50,000 points or does it have to have Radisson in the name?? Thanks!

  • Ric Garrido November 27, 2011

@Margaret Dodd – The 50,000 points promotion is only for the Radisson brand hotels. Country Inns are a different brand. Both brands are Carlson Hotels.

There are some really cheap Radisson hotels. I’ve seen people booking rates at several hotels for under $75.

    Thank You!!!

  • alexander O November 27, 2011

completed a stay at radisson, been a week after standard points posted – no sign of bonus 50k points yet.
    hopefully soon.

  • alexander O November 27, 2011

dont think it matters, but my rate was $47 – last minute special at Radisson Dallas east

  • Sky King November 28, 2011

Used Club Carlson’s best rate guarantee to book a Radisson forr $26.37 ai. Radisson wanted $99 for it…hotels had it at $34 so they matched it. Made sure and signed my brother and sister in law up for an account as well. I’m shooting for 200,000 for around $100. Paris here we come.

  • Marcela November 28, 2011

Ric, does this work for multiple stay?
So if I stay at 2 different Radisson hotels during the promotion period, will I get 100,000 points?
Or is it capped at 50,000 points per account?

  • Ric Garrido November 28, 2011

Big Night Giveaway is capped at 50,000 points per account.

One way to take advantage of the offer is to get someone you like to travel with and stay two nights at the same hotel.

First name under one guest name and second night under second guest name. You may need to check out and check in again under different guest or call hotel to arrange for same room for two nights under each person’s name.

You just need to be sure they are treated as two different reservations and credit goes to each member’s account.

My wife and I have done this many times with good promotion offers.

    Each person earns the bonus.

  • Miles November 28, 2011

“…my rate was $47 – last minute special at Radisson Dallas east….”

How does one learn about last-minute specials at Radissons?

  • alexander O November 28, 2011

“How does one learn about last-minute specials at Radissons?”

Just check the hotel website an hour prior to arrival – they sometimes do 30% off last minute special.

  • Patrick Sojka November 29, 2011

    Hey Ric

My qualifying stay was similar to yours, C$116 for a stay at the Radisson Calgary Airport. Just waiting for the points to post now!

  • Ric Garrido November 29, 2011

@Patrick – I was tempted with a $49.50 cyberMonday sale for Radisson Sacramento yesterday, but that stay needs to be on my wife’s account and I didn’t think I could get her to travel from Monterey to Sacramento for a weekend in December on any account.
