Loyalty Traveler’s day and apology to readers: First thing this morning I saw a comment on my blog with the offer quoted. I thought it odd there was no link to the hotel’s Facebook page and there was nothing on the hotel’s Facebook page mentioning this limited time promotion.

I contacted the hotel by phone this morning to find out if this was a legitimate offer. After several hours I was told the hotel was not running a Facebook promotion, but then a couple hours later I receive another email stating the hotel is running the Facebook promotion.

Jump on this offer now for 5,000 free Club Carlson Goldpoints. There are still 4 hours and 40 minutes left at the time of this post to request points.

Sweeeeet I see a US AIR transfer hit in my near future. Thanks so very much email sent!

  • worldtraveller2 October 26, 2011

@deltagoldflyer: how many points are needed for a radisson transfer to US Airways?

  • worldtraveller2 October 26, 2011

@deltagoldflyer: here’s what I found on the milepoint wiki:
Club Carlson (Radisson, Country Inn & Suites, Park Inn, Park Plaza)

•Minimum transfer size to get a hit: 8K points to 1K miles. (2000 Carlson = 250 US, but you must meet the 850 mile minimum for a hit.)
•To purchase points: Not an option.

    BUT:
    how about this option?:

•Points may be transferred from one Club Carlson account to another Club Carlson account. From the Club Carlson T&Cs: “A member may transfer (“gift”) Points from their account to another Program member account by contacting Member Services.”

  • mommypoints October 26, 2011

I’ll have enough for an unexpected transfer if this goes through – thank you!

@Frank: I had the similar thought in mind. I just sent my FB display name to Andrew in the mail just to be double sure!

  • Ric Garrido October 27, 2011

@Frank – good question. I don’t know how they know if you liked them on Facebook since email and name might not match your Carlson account.

I didn’t check last night but when I first saw this offer the Radisson Admiral Toronto had 47 Likes and when I posted this on Loyalty Traveler at 7:40 ET there were 65 likes and this morning there were over 600 Likes.

    2.5 million points?

This would likely have been 10 million points, except for the fact that I kind of stifled the activity most of the day by suggesting it was not an authentic offer and then being told by a hotel representative that they were unaware of any Facebook promotion and the manager would not be available until afternoon to confirm.

Then I received an email late in afternoon that the manager confirmed the offer.

  • deltagoldflyer October 27, 2011

I did not get any kind of email or anything back. Anyone else?

  • JettyBoy October 27, 2011

    Nothing yet.

  • Oliver October 27, 2011

Haven’t heard anything back. I hope you kept a copy of the email confirming the promo is legit, Ric 😉

  • Ric Garrido October 28, 2011

Give them time to sort it out.

Since this was not an automated process they have to go through each email individually.

I thought it was an odd promotion from the beginning and I’ll wait until next week to follow up if nothing happens.

  • Oliver October 28, 2011

Sure. I was thinking some acknowledgement on the FB page would be the way to go. Along the lines of “thanks to those 600+ who liked us today. If you sent us your account number before midnight, your 5000 points will be posted within the next 6-8 weeks”.

And yes, an odd promo – I have no idea what their goal was (are FB likes worth 5000 points?)

  • Ray October 28, 2011

Got the 5k points this afternoon. That was fast! Thanks a lot.

  • Travis October 28, 2011
